Traveling as a family of four means we’re always looking for the most cost-effective options — and that includes getting to mainland Europe. We chose a ferry crossing during a low-demand time, which slashed the price significantly.

Ferry Cost: £108✅ Tip: Book during off-peak times and keep your roofbox low profile (you’ll save a surprising amount!).


🏕 Where We Stayed: Safari Tent in Holland

Our first accommodation in the Netherlands was an absolute treat for the kids — a safari-style glamping tent! Nestled in nature, this spot gave us all the adventure of camping without sacrificing comfort. And best of all? It was incredibly affordable.

⛽️ Fueling the Journey (Literally)

Driving across Europe means fuel costs can add up fast. We used apps to track the cheapest fuel stops on our route and managed to keep our total below what we budgeted for.

🎢 TOVERLAND Theme Park – Worth Every Cent

If you’ve never heard of Toverland, you’re missing out. This magical theme park in the Netherlands was a family highlight — full of jaw-dropping rides (yes, we screamed), immersive areas for little ones, and stunning scenery. It was the perfect balance between thrill and family-friendly fun.
